Don't Forget.....
PE kits need to be worn every Wednesday.
Please remember that your child needs a healthy snack and bottle of still water each day.
Your child needs to bring their reading book bag to school every day. Please try to read your child's decodable book with them at least 4 times a week and remember to date their phonic newsletter booklet. We ask that you read your child's book to them at first. We then ask you to read toether with your child to support them to read the harder to read and spell words and to 'sound talk' unfamilair words. Their decodable books only contain words with graphemes they have been taught. As your child reads together with you, they will become more familiar with the words and begin to read more fluently.
Your child's decodable book and sharing book will be collected in every Thursday and new ones will go home every Friday. Please follow the guidance page within their phonic newsletters which explains how you can support you child with reading and phonics at home.
Your child will bring home a maths activity and word sheet each week which will support their learning at home. The maths activity should be completed at home and returned to school by the following Thursday. The word sheet will list words with the graphemes and the harder to read and spell words which have been taught during the week in ELS. We ask that you support your child at home to practise writing and spelling these words. You do not need to return the sheet and they will not be tested in school.
Please find guidance videos below which will help you to support your child further at home. The videos support with the blending of words and the graphemes taught through Phase 2, Phase 3 and Phase 5 of our ELS scheme.
